Kim Tae-Hyung (김태형) known by his stage name, V (뷔) is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and actor. He is one of the vocalists and dancers of BTS.
Kim Tae-Hyung was born on December 30, 1995, in Daegu, South Korea.
He has a sister, Kim Eon-Jin, and a brother, Kim Jeong-Gyu and is the oldest of the three.
His parents really love him, but they were farmers and very busy. Tae-Hyung was therefore raised by his grandmother, for almost half of his life.
His grandmother became the closest person to him, the person he would share his dreams with, confide in and even complain to, until she sadly passed away.

When he was a child, he always thought that he would end up being a farmer. In fact, that was his dream. To live like his family. At first, he didn’t dream of becoming anything else.
“I used to think I would be a farmer since I grew up in a village.
I didn’t really have any friends that had visions for the future.”
Although he grew up on the countryside and could only really imagine himself growing up to be a farmer, he still knew he had to study hard.
Ever since he was in kindergarten, Tae-Hyung was a very cheerful child who often got doted on by the teachers. He was also very curious and wanted to try everything. He loved staying over at his friends’ houses and was always looking forward to his Taekwondo training camps.
Luckily for Tae, a lot of kids from his kindergarten went to the same elementary school, so he had a lot of friends and they used to play in the park everyday until dark.
Everything changed when he got into music. Somewhere just before middle school, Tae started pestering his parents saying “Buy me an MP3 – I want to listen to music too”, he started to download music and by the end of sixth grade, he had found his passion. He then knew that he wanted to be a singer and he says that this is the first time he had a real dream.
When asked by his father what he wanted to become in the future, Tae-Hyung replied that he wants to become a singer. His father then, very seriously, said: “If you want to become a singer, you have to learn on how to play an instrument.” And this is how he started playing the saxophone which he went on to play for 3 years. He even won first place in a South-Gyeongsang province-wide competition.
TaeTae is rocking the saxophone!
He quit the saxophone because he wanted to focus on dancing. He said, “As a singer, you can’t really be cool unless you dance good too, right?” He wanted to learn it properly and therefore entered a high school and started a dance school.
About half a year in his first year of school, Big Hit held an official audition in which he danced, sang, rapped, did impressions as well as one-liner jokes. He was sure that he had failed and even thought that they were lying when he received the call saying that he had passed.
In September of his first year of high school, he moved to Seoul and transferred to a high school of fine arts. When he entered the dorm Rap Monster, Suga, J-Hope and Jungkook were already there. As TaeTae isn’t very shy, he quickly became close with everyone.
The mere fact that Tae-Hyung had managed to become a trainee made him very happy and even though the boys couldn’t live a normal high school life due to their days being packed with practices and studying they still managed to create a lot of fond memories for themselves in the dorm and during practice.
When it was finally decided that they would debut, V’s existence was considered a secret weapon and therefore was hidden until the very end. This was a bit frustrating for Tae-Hyung as he couldn’t tell anyone that he was debuting and reaching his long dream of being a singer, also the others would have schedules and appearances while he would stay and rest in the dorms.
So, of course, when Tae’s existence was made official he was overjoyed and thought “The dream that I’ve had since sixth grade is finally coming true!”.
Tae-Hyung has said that Bangtan is the first and last team of his life, uwu right?
He said that until the end, he wants to become more and more successful with the members so that they one day can look back and say “Look how hard we worked for this”.
He also said that he would like to one day try acting if he got the chance but, that he first wants to properly study it as “half-assing things is not good, right?”.
And in December 19, 2016, the first episode of Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth was released. In this Kim Tae-Hyung played the role of Seok Han-sung, the youngest hwarang of the lot who has a warm personality and gets along well with everyone. Not much different from how he is in real life, right?
Coming from humble beginnings, Tae-Hyung has shown that nothing is impossible and that you can gain everything from nothing. We, army, can’t wait to follow you on your journey to witness everything that you will accomplish.
