2! 3! Hits no 1 on World Digital Song Sales chart after fan-led initiative!

2! 3! Was released in 2016 as BTS’ first official tribute to us, ARMY.

After a week of headlines regarding the “incident” (read all about it here & here) ARMYs came together to show their solidarity by mass streaming and purchasing the BTS song.

A worldwide initiative was made, #ProjectBuy23 , to show support. This initiative encouraged fans to download and ‘gift’ purchases of the track to show that fans are still supporting the group despite the headlines. ARMY focused on “2! 3!” as it’s a song that’s largely considered to be the first song BTS wrote and released specifically for us fans. The Korean title roughly translates to “Still wishing for better days” and is meant to be uplifting as well as a song in which fans can find comfort. BTS shouts out a few thank you through out the track to encourage a sense of light even in the darkest of times.

“It’s alright, now count 1, 2, 3 and forget

Erase all sad memories

Hold my hand and smile

It’s alright, now count 1, 2, 3 and forget

Erase all sad memories

Hold each others hands and smile”

2! 3!, originally from BTS’ 2016 album “Wings”, had never appeared on the Billboard charts earlier and this week it debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart

With this, BTS also score their 14th entry on the Digital Song Sales chart, where 2! 3! starts at No. 47. Bangtan Sonyeondan has two precious No. 1s on the all-genre ranking, first “Fake love” this June followed by “Idol” ft. Nicki Minaj in September.

Following the classy official apology from BTS’ management, ARMY is now sending a message of comfort back to BTS, earning them their 10th No.1 on World Digital Song Sales.

This, among a lot of other things, show that ARMY is not to be messed with and that we will always stand by and support BTS. No matter what!
